Switzerland: On 5 December 2013 the Green Liberal Party of Switzerland submitted a parliamentary initiative to the National Council, proposing a constitutional amendment allowing couples to enter into a marriage or civil union irrespective of sex and sexual orientation.
On 20 February 2015 the lower house's Justice Committee recommended approval of the proposal.
Any change in the law would have to be passed by Swiss voters in a referendum as it would require constitutional change.
