Steam not validating game files
I was wrong, though, since the validation found no problems with the installation and the game continued to not launch from the same error.
I'm curious as to what exactly the verify option does.
I've also run the Disk Checking tools from my C Drive Properties Tools menu, as well as run "chkdsk /f" which runs chkdsk on boot, neither run showed any errors in the drive. If its different in any way it replaces or adds on any files. If I ever have a problem with a game on steam this always the first thing i do.Same issue, had to delete my skyrim and steam completely off my computer because of a bug from a mod, all mods are deleted and removed from game now its a fresh install and it ALWAYS says 1 file failed to validate, I know what file it is and that's the "Skyrim.esm" file, its not re-acquiring the file when it says it is, for some reason something is blocking it from doing it or it just downright isn't doing it at all, I don't know what to do, I can play the game vanilla but I do wish to run mods but due to NMM NEEDing esm file it doesn't seem possible....I had the same issue and what I did was uninstall Skyrim, right clicked its grayed out name, went to properties, Local Files, Browse local files and then I deleted everything that was in that file.
What happens is that it checks the games has all the proper files (sometimes if you want to mess with maps and stuff might accidentally delete some stuff so it adds all the right files!
